Jose Mourinho says turning a 1-0 goal deficit against RB Leipzig to qualify into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League is not Spurs greatest challenge irrespective of the absence of some key players in his squad.

Timo Werner’s 58th penalty strike gave the German’s a win in the first leg of the competition, a boost ahead of the return fixture at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night.

Tottenham will be without Dutch winger, Steven Bergwijn, who suffered an ankle injury against Burnley in their 1-1 drawn game on Saturday. He is expected to miss the rest of the season with injury, as Moussa Sissoko and Ben Davies are also unavailable to play.

"We are losing 1-0 at half-time. We were losing 1-0 at half time two days ago. It’s something that’s happened to us a few times this season. You ask me how can you score two goals without Kane, Son, Bergwijn? There are many ways to score goals. A Leipzig player could even score for us,” the manager said.

"Ben [Davies], one week, two weeks. Steven [Bergwijn], I don’t expect him to play again this season. We’re used to it. I’d say we were psychologically more down with the other injuries because when you’ve got four or five injuries, what’s six or seven?"

Spurs were a defined team in the competition last year under Mauricio Pochettino and were finalist at the Wanda Metropolitano, but an experienced Liverpool side hit two to be crowned Champions.

Pochettino’s inconsistencies brought about the appointment of Jose Mourinho yet his attachment has notbrought about enough transformation to the London club.

The star man of the first leg, Timo Werner who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, was a doubt with a thigh injury yet according to Julian Nagelsmann, the player trained with the probability of starting very high.

"Timo Werner trained like normal yesterday. If everything goes to plan, he'll start tomorrow."

Tottenham is on the eight position of the Premier League, seven points difference from top four spot with nine games remaining.
