The organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Charterhouse, have announced that the ceremony will take place in August 2020.

The CEO or the event organizing firm, Theresa Ayoade, made the announcement per an "all things being equal" basis.

She made known that her team have started plans to deliver the showpiece to viewers, irrespective of the problems they will face. 

Because the awards ceremony had been on hold since President Akuffo Addo initiated the lockdown procedure, the VGMA team kicked back into action immediately the President eased the restrictions in Ghana.

“The challenges of putting together logistics and not being sure of expected revenue is a real issue. In normal times, we will have been able to sell up to 4,000 tickets in VGMA-related events, but it is not so now,” she declared.

The show would have to abide by the guidelines for events put forth by the Tourism Ministry, so she said her team would look into taking full advantage of the digital space. She however made known that the awards ceremony would have a live audience.

“It may not be exactly as it used to be in the past but obviously, with what is happening now, it’s going to be a downscale version,”

Pointing to the fact that the audience might not be as large as normal and they may need to observe the necessary social distancing and health protocols.

She expressed her confidence in her team's ability to pull off the spectacular come August.
